Uncertainty Surrounds Xavi’s Future at Barcelona Amidst Player Dissent and Growing Speculation.
As per ESPN, dissatisfaction among Barcelona players has surfaced, with queries arising about their manager’s approach and decision-making. Additionally, a group within the squad reportedly feels discontented with their head coach, though Xavi remains confident in having the complete backing of his players.
Tensions within the team are said to have originated following the December match against Almeria, during which the club secured a narrow 3-2 victory. The former Al-Sadd coach delivered his most stern team talk during halftime of that game, a move that reportedly did not sit well with certain players.
Even with a segment of the team losing confidence in him, Xavi still maintains backing from sporting director Deco and club president Joan Laporta, who hold faith in his capabilities despite the team’s erratic performances this season. Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City coach and Xavi’s former mentor at the Catalan club, recently conveyed a supportive message for the entire team, including the coach, following their disheartening 4-1 defeat against arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.
At the beginning of the season, the ex-Blaugrana captain inked a fresh agreement, binding him to the club until 2025. However, the financial limitations of the club might pose challenges in parting ways with the manager before the expiration of his contract.
