“All 2023 WASSCE candidates from T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (T.I. AMASS) have been formally summoned to appear at the WAEC office for in-depth investigations pertaining to alleged examination malpractices.
With a total of 4,280 candidates nationwide, a decisive measure has been undertaken, leading to the withholding of results for 1,005 candidates due to suspected infractions.
Credible sources indicate that candidates from T.I. AMASS are among those subjected to scrutiny, with WAEC determining the school’s involvement in malpractices.
The results of the implicated candidates face potential cancellation pending further comprehensive investigations.
In the midst of these developments, Kofi Asare, the Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, has expressed apprehensions regarding the delayed release of WASSCE results for candidates from 235 schools, constituting approximately 20% of Ghana’s Senior High Schools.
Mr. Asare has urged WAEC to expedite the investigative process to ensure equity, particularly for innocent candidates who may encounter challenges in tertiary admissions.
Citing Eduwatch’s 2021 WASSCE monitoring report, Asare has recommended heightened investments in consultants to expedite investigations into examination result issues before the announcement of WASSCE results.
He stressed the necessity for a balanced approach in applying the law, delivering justice, and ensuring timely and equitable outcomes.
The imperative for a harmonious equilibrium between legal procedures and expeditious justice is pivotal, as stakeholders eagerly await resolution. Parents, particularly those with wards in affected schools, are escalating pressure on school authorities, with some in private schools even contemplating legal action against the institutions.”
