Police Arrest 4 PRESEC Legon Students, 2 Adults for Staging Kidnap

The Ghana Police Service has announced that its inquiry has uncovered that the reported abduction of a student from Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC), situated in Legon, Accra, was orchestrated.

As per the Police statement, the alleged kidnappers purportedly demanded Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC340,000.00) from the victim’s parents to facilitate his departure abroad.

“The initial probe has shown that one of the minors, aiming to obtain money from his parents to fund a trip overseas, collaborated with others to fabricate the abduction. During this process, they requested Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC340,000.00) as ransom from the victim’s parents,” a press release issued on April 5 by the Ghana Police Service stated.

The Police further elucidated, “The investigation also revealed that the minors, along with two accomplices, managed to obtain Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵20,000.00) of the total ransom demanded.”

Moreover, the release divulged that, following an intelligence-driven operation and inquiry, Six (6) individuals were apprehended, including Four (4) minors who are all students of Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, Accra, for orchestrating the staged abduction.

Among the six (6), two (2) are adults identified as Isaac Kissi Adjei, also known as Kofi Black, and Courage Teiko, alias Timmy.

“As per standard procedure, the identities of the minors have been withheld, and their Parents and Guardians have been duly informed, while Police investigations into the matter persist,” a segment of the release emphasized.
