Kylian Mbappe has signed a contract to join Real Madrid on a free transfer once his Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) deal ends on June 30.
The French striker verbally agreed to the move to the Bernabeu in February and announced in May that he would leave PSG at the end of the season.
Now 25, Mbappe has officially signed with Real Madrid and will move to Spain when the La Liga transfer window opens on July 1.
Madrid plans to announce the deal next week and will formally present Mbappe at the Bernabeu after Euro 2024.
A World Cup winner in 2018, Mbappe is PSG’s record goalscorer with 256 goals since joining from Monaco on an initial loan in 2017.
He has agreed to a deal with Real Madrid until 2029, earning 15 million euros (£12.8m) per season, plus a 150 million euro (£128m) signing-on bonus to be paid over five years. He will also retain a percentage of his image rights.
Mbappe will have the opportunity to play alongside Luka Modric, who is set to sign a new one-year extension with the club.
Modric, 38, came on as a substitute in Madrid’s 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Saturday, securing their 15th European Cup title.
The former Tottenham midfielder’s current deal expires later this month, but he is expected to stay for another year.
German midfielder Toni Kroos, 34, made way for Modric with four minutes remaining in what was his final appearance for the club after ten years.
Real Madrid will hold a trophy parade through the Spanish capital on Sunday night to celebrate their record-extending success.
