On Saturday night, readers were stunned by a tweet from a certain Paulo Albuquerque, who claimed, “I’ve got information that Daniel Alves has killed himself.”

The rumor spread rapidly online despite originating from a single source, a comedian posing as a journalist. Interestingly, no established news outlets refuted the claim initially.

The situation was clarified on Sunday morning when the source himself, Albuquerque, revealed his comedic intent.

“Guys, for the love of God, what is this fuss? I’m referring to my cousin Danielzinho from Nova Iguacu who was missing, but they’ve already found him alive.”

Dani Alves’ brother, Ney, addressed the online rumors surrounding the case.

“There’s so much unnecessary cruelty,” Ney said. “They’ve convicted my brother based on one person’s accusation, and now they seem to want even worse for him. He’s already imprisoned, isn’t that punishment enough?”

Dani Alves was found guilty of sexual assault by a court of law and sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for the assault that occurred in December 2022.
