Currently, police officers are stationed at Osino Presby Senior High and Technical School in response to a physical altercation between students and certain community members from Nsuapemso in the Fanteakwa South District, resulting in one fatality.

The incident, which took place on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, prompted the deployment of surveillance teams and patrols around the school premises to swiftly identify and prevent potential retaliatory actions.

According to reports from Citi News sources, the conflict originated on the school grounds due to escalating tensions following a previous clash on Monday, February 19, 2024, between Osino Presby Senior High students and individuals from the community.

Allegedly, during a debate in another locality, one student confiscated a cellphone belonging to a community member and subjected him to severe physical assault, igniting animosity among the locals.

In a bid for retaliation, the community members returned the next day, leading to a violent confrontation with the students. During the altercation, six individuals attempted to set fire to the boys’ dormitory but were thwarted by the students. Unfortunately, one of the community members was apprehended, assaulted, and later pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Additionally, reports indicate that students set a vehicle belonging to a community member ablaze during the conflict.

Prompted by the severity of the situation, the Fanteakwa South District Security Council (DISEC) convened an emergency meeting and dispatched police personnel from the district, along with reinforcements from Koforidua, to restore order, enhance security, and foster peace at the school.

Furthermore, DISEC extended condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served in the wake of this tragic incident.
