Ningo-Prampam Constituency’s Member of Parliament, Sam George, has voiced concerns regarding Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s political promises, alleging that they are primarily aimed at securing power rather than genuine implementation.

During an appearance on JoyNews Newsfile on Saturday, February 17, George asserted that President Akufo-Addo no longer values Bawumia’s counsel, thus undermining his role in governance.

According to George, instances such as the introduction of the E-levy, bet tax, emissions tax, and the size of the government demonstrate the president’s disregard for Bawumia’s purported opinions.

Highlighting Bawumia’s pledge to reduce the number of ministers to 50, George raised credibility concerns, suggesting that the promise was made solely to sway public opinion.

George criticized Akufo-Addo’s recent ministerial reshuffle, accusing him of prioritizing party interests over national governance. He argued that the timing and composition of the reshuffle were indicative of a strategy to bolster the NPP’s electoral prospects rather than addressing critical national issues.

Furthermore, George questioned the expertise of some newly appointed ministers, expressing skepticism about their ability to effectively govern, particularly given their lack of subject-area specialization.

In George’s view, the actions of both Bawumia and Akufo-Addo raise doubts about their commitment to meaningful governance and responsiveness to pressing national concerns.
