Apple is reportedly in discussions to integrate Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence engine into the iPhone, according to a report by Bloomberg News citing sources familiar with the matter.

In addition, Apple has recently engaged in talks with OpenAI and has contemplated utilizing its model, the report stated.

Negotiations between Apple and Google are said to be ongoing with the aim of licensing Gemini, Google’s suite of generative AI models, to power new features expected in the iPhone’s software later this year, Bloomberg reported.

However, the terms and branding of such an agreement, as well as its implementation, have yet to be finalized by the two parties, the report noted.

Any potential deal is unlikely to be announced until June, coinciding with Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference, as per the report.

Requests for comments from Apple, Google, and OpenAI were not immediately responded to by Reuters at the time of reporting.
