WAEC Releases Provisional Results for WASSCE 2023 Second Series: 37,825 Private Candidates Included

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled the provisional results for the second series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 2023, encompassing 37,825 private candidates.

These candidates consist of 17,389 males, 20,725 females, and 16 visually impaired candidates.

In an announcement made via press release on Tuesday, February 20, WAEC disclosed that 1,231 registered candidates did not appear for the examination.

Moreover, WAEC stated that the results of 289 candidates allegedly involved in various forms of examination malpractice have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations.

The reported malpractices include collusion, impersonation, possession of unauthorized materials such as mobile phones, and seeking external assistance during the examination.

WAEC emphasized that the release or cancellation of the withheld results will be determined based on the outcome of the ongoing investigations.
